EPS-TOPIK Listening Practice: A 20-Minute Daily Routine

Use this EPS-TOPIK listening practice routine to turn a short audio lesson into focused study. You need an official recording, its matching textbook or transcript, and a notebook. Twenty minutes is a manageable session length, not a promise of a particular exam score.

پہلے آڈیو سنیں اور اپنا جواب لکھیں۔ پھر کتاب سے جواب چیک کریں۔ جو لفظ سمجھ نہ آئے اسے دوبارہ سنیں، اس کا مطلب دیکھیں اور اگلے دن پھر مشق کریں۔

Choose the right audio before you start

Open the HRD Korea standard textbook resources or the official self-study e-book. Match the recording to the same book, lesson and exercise. Our textbook and audio guide explains how to find the files.

Choose one short dialogue or a small set of questions. If nearly every word is new, start with an easier lesson and learn its essential vocabulary first. Keep the answer key closed for your first attempt. Use a comfortable volume; louder sound does not solve a vocabulary problem.

Your 20-minute listening routine

TimeActionWhat to record
Minutes 0–2Check the lesson number and read the task instructions.Audio file and exercise number.
Minutes 2–6Listen without the transcript and attempt the questions.Your first answer and confidence: sure, unsure or guessed.
Minutes 6–11Check the answer and replay the difficult part with the text. The exact word or phrase you missed.
Minutes 11–16Replay a short phrase, pause and repeat it. Then listen without reading. One pronunciation or meaning problem to review.
Minutes 16–20Try again without the text and write tomorrow’s review target.First-attempt result separately from the repeated attempt.

During study, pausing and replaying help you inspect a difficult phrase. During a timed mock test or the real examination, follow that test’s playback instructions. Do not assume that a study player’s controls will be available in the exam.

Find out why you missed the answer

A wrong answer can have several causes. Ask yourself whether you knew the word when you read it, whether you heard the ending, and whether you understood what the question asked. Hearing one familiar word is not enough if the speaker then changes or rejects the idea.

  • Unknown word: check its meaning, then learn it inside the original phrase.
  • Known word, unfamiliar sound: compare the written phrase with the recording and repeat a short section.
  • Number or time confusion: write the number you heard before checking the answer. Review Korean number systems.
  • Question misunderstood: underline what information was required, such as a place, object or action.
  • Guessing from one word: identify the whole phrase that supports the correct choice.

A seven-day practice cycle

On days one and two, work with a familiar topic and reuse yesterday’s difficult phrases. On days three and four, add a different topic, such as a work routine or location. On day five, focus on numbers and times. On day six, attempt a fresh set without reading the transcript first. On day seven, review the mistake log and repeat the items you still miss.

Keep first-attempt accuracy separate from scores after several replays. Remembering yesterday’s answer is useful review, but it does not measure how well you understand an unfamiliar recording. Adjust the pace if the new set is too difficult.
