EPS-TOPIK is the Korean-language test used within South Korea’s Employment Permit System. It assesses practical Korean for everyday life and work. This guide helps you understand the test and find the correct official information before you plan your preparation.
For candidates in Pakistan: check the latest OEC EPS announcements for application windows, documents, fees and your test arrangements. TopikPro provides free study resources; it does not register candidates or arrange jobs.
EPS-TOPIK format at a glance
| Section | Questions | Marks | Time |
|---|---|---|---|
| Reading | 20 | 50 | 25 minutes |
| Listening | 20 | 50 | 25 minutes |
| Total | 40 | 100 | 50 minutes |
These figures follow HRD Korea’s published overview, checked on 9 October 2026. Follow your session’s official instructions. Older guides and some practice apps use a 200-point scale; do not confuse a practice score with an official result.
What should you study?
Build the ability to understand short Korean instructions, dialogues and practical information. A useful routine combines reading Hangul, learning everyday and workplace vocabulary, recognising sentence endings and listening to spoken Korean.
- Start with reading: read simple syllables accurately, then short words and sentences.
- Learn vocabulary in context: connect a word with a situation or object rather than memorising only its translation.
- Use audio: listen before opening a transcript, then check what you missed.
- Review mistakes: record whether an error came from vocabulary, grammar, listening or rushing.
Use the official textbook download page to find the books and matching audio. Our free preparation plan explains how to organise your sessions.
How do scores and selection differ?
HRD Korea describes selection by score among candidates meeting the relevant minimum, within the number being selected. A practice percentage is not a selection result. Read the current notice for your country and sector, and see our passing-score and ranking guide for the distinction.
Passing the language test does not itself guarantee employment or a visa. Avoid planning around a promised job, departure date or salary from a study website. Official agencies handle those stages and requirements.
Where do I check eligibility and registration?
Use the official EPS-TOPIK portal and the authorised sending agency for your country. In Pakistan, begin with OEC. A registration form remaining visible online does not by itself prove that applications are currently open.
Before submitting an application, check these details in the relevant announcement:
- The announcement date and the exact test or recruitment round.
- The application deadline and any later test-scheduling notice.
- The age cut-off, identity documents and other eligibility conditions.
- The official payment instructions, if applicable.
- How to find your test centre, result and any next-stage instructions.
Keep a copy of the official notice and your submission receipt. Do not use an old social-media screenshot as the only source of application information.
Is EPS-TOPIK the same as TOPIK?
They are different tests with different purposes. Read EPS-TOPIK vs TOPIK before choosing a study course. Practising for the wrong test can leave important gaps.
